On the private tour of Ouro Preto, you'll visit this Brazilian colonial city's main attractions and baroque architecture with an English-speaking guide just for you.

Description

We'll pick you up from your hotel for a private tour of Ouro Preto. Ever wondered why this city was initially established under the name Vila Rica? During our tour, we'll take a deep dive into the history and culture of this colonial city, which held immense significance along the gold route of Brazil.

As we embark on a minibus and journey through the historic heart of Ouro Preto to unveil its most significant landmarks, we'll have the opportunity to appreciate the city's renowned baroque architecture, which graces its squares, fountains, bridges, and, of course, its majestic churches.

Our tour will include visits to remarkable churches, such as the Church of São Francisco de Assis, considered the masterpiece of the Baroque sculptor Antônio Francisco Lisboa, famously known as Aleijadinho. You'll also have the chance to explore the Church of Pilar, with its striking golden hues, and the Church of Carmo, distinguished by its Rococo style and intricate soapstone detailing on its facade. These architectural treasures are sure to leave you in awe.

Another stop on our private tour of Ouro Preto will also take us to the Church of Santa Efigênia, another significant Baroque gem of Minas Gerais. We'll go to the Chapel of Padre Faria, where the unassuming exterior compliments the opulent decorations. These sites provide further insight into the region's rich artistic and religious heritage.

Following our previous stops, our tour will take us to Tiradentes Square and the Inconfidência Museum, an ideal location to learn about the city's history of revolt against Portuguese colonial rule. We'll also explore the Municipal Theater and the Casa dos Contos Museum, rounding out our journey with a rich tapestry of cultural and historical experiences.

The fun doesn't stop here, as our private tour has one more stop. Our journey will take us into an actual gold mine, shedding light on the extraction of this precious metal and its profound importance in Ouro Preto. Lastly, we'll ascend to the Morro de São Sebastião viewpoint, where an unrivaled city view will serve as the crowning jewel of our tour—an awe-inspiring conclusion to our exploration of Ouro Preto!

We'll make our way back to your hotel, about six and a half hours of adventure.
